Drabble Story 5 - Real

Real
He can not blink, but gleam. The beams of light penetrate the dense canopy roof animating the grassy floor. Where am I? Confused and excited. Never before was he in the presence of the majestic. A young boy jetted across the grass through the rays so fast with joy, so fast he was gone. That was me, only that never happened! Was this magic, or heaven? Neither, this the revelation of beauty, pure real beauty. His old laughter echoes, not so distant. He worries to blink, but finally does. He opens his eyes. Still here! The young man, laughs.

Drabble Story 4 - Sins of the Ghosts

Sin of the Ghosts
“I thought I had seen it all, but somehow something that I could never imagine made it’s way into plain sight.” The branchy blue bug-like creature thrusted its magnificent pincers through the ancient city ruins. Struggling to stay alive, bluish fumes began to dance out of the dying alien like the ghosts that haunted the city on nights like these. But tonight like every other night, there was no one to haunt. The irridated alien then pondered his last thought , “I never thought I’d find a suitable home where great beings lived, only to find a planetary mass grave.”

Drabble Story 3 - Perennial Purity

Small crinkles of hot steam dance wavily, like the burning flames of war torn battlefields. Yet on a small patch of land, the spoils of the fight, something ancient remains, protected. Inside it's transparent but solid enclosure, a pure substance able to flow like the magic of water, glows hot alive, as if age mattered not. A wanderer walks over, notices the green growth surrounding the capsule in the middle of the scorched horror, untouched. A rope of beads hangs tightly attached on the ancient relic, meant to be carried. The wanderer equips himself, carries on, strangely lighter, and smiles.

Drabble Story 2 - Decimation by Duty

"No tree on Earth had ever reached the skies, my eyes must be lying." The commander stood outside with her binoculars up to her eyes watching the foggy landscape down to the horizon where the giant stood. Her deputy sat leaning against their crashed space ship. "That tree is our only chance of surviving on this planet, we have no more resources." The commander then asked, "And our enemy?" He replied "Most likely same state as us." Without batting an eye, the commander simply stated. "Our mission is to obliterate them, even if that means sacrificing our selves. Burn it."

Drabble Story 1 - Spectacle of Death

He had been warned. Never trespass on the ancient grounds. Yet he did, and all for what? For one single bounty. As lightning struck the man, the surge of energy rattled his body around. He had never felt so alive until these last moments of his death. His audience, the stoic red ruins and reedy grass stood silent but illuminated by the spectacle. He had heard tales that memories of one's life flash over throughout their mind in the final moments. Instead, all of his demons and worries were completely absent. All left were his sensations, his mindfulness, his peace.

My Drabbles

My older bro suggested I write drabbles (100 word mini stories). I decided it would be a good exercise for writing stories.

I have a bunch of Magic The Gathering Cards I got for free over the years at different places (stores and comic conventions). I looked at a lot of them and realized there is some really beautiful inspiring art work. So since I'm not going to use these cards and they are not worth anything I cut out all the pictures.

I am going to randomly select an image from the pile and then write a story based off of it. Look for the next post for my first drabble.
